QUEEN COAT

The coat re-imagines Van Kessel’s baroque map of Africa as a living textile landscape. Lions, maidens, and maritime scenes flow across its fleece-lined body, geography turned garment. The woven imagery softens beneath ivory sherpa trim that outlines borders like ancient cartographic frames. Each sleeve bears fragments of coastlines and carved symbols of trade winds once drawn by empire, now rewoven by DAP LUXE into a declaration of belonging.

The Queen Coat transforms colonial cartography into embodied cartography: a wearable map of self-definition. The sherpa lining warms the story, protecting the traveler from the chill of erasure. When worn, the coat becomes both atlas and armor, a continent carried by its own descendants.
